FAQS
Here are some of the most common questions we get
How much will it cost to remodel and or have an addition done to my house?
-
This depends on the scope of the project and the pricing of materials selected for the entire project.
-
How much demolition will need to be done on your project.
-
Are there any unforeseen issues with your house that could add additional time and resources.
Can you give me a rough estimate of cost?
-
Kind of, every remodel or addition is so different with the scope of work and materials used. It is difficult to give a rough estimate for these reasons plus the constant rising prices of materials.
How long will the project take?
-
In this market, this can be big variance. (How long will our architect take to draw the plans, will a structural engineer need to be involved, how long is plan review by the building department taking to review the plans and issue the building permit, what is the extent of your remodel or addition, are the materials that you selected a special order with long lead times, and will we have down time waiting for the materials.
Isn’t remodeling cheaper than new construction?
-
Sometimes but not always. This can vary quite a bit with the scope of work, the materials used, is there extensive demolition and structural engineering required, and is your house old enough to have Lead and or Asbestos in some of the materials used to build your house.
Can you build it like the pictures I have?
-
Yes, to an extent. Do you have an article or a list that describes all the brands and models of the materials being used in the picture and is the picture from project that was built this year.
-
Typically, we can come very close to matching pictures and articles, with the materials being used.
With how busy the construction industry is, is there still a shortage of materials?
-
Yes, on many products. Some products have not been produced in over a year, many products have been on back order multiple times and some products are readily available.
What are the prices of building materials doing, are they going up or down?
-
Prices are still going up on most products. Some products are receiving price increases every 1-2 months.
What does design/build mean with a remodel, addition or a custom home?
-
This is the approach we take, to turn a complex project into a well-organized design and build out between our architect and us the contractor.
What should I expect during the design/build remodel or addition?
-
Once the plans are complete and approved, we submit the plans to the building department for plan review and approval for a building permit. Then we start ordering materials and schedule the construction of your home.
Is my budget and what I want to have done even close to each other?
-
In most cases peoples wants and their budgets are very far apart. We work with you to determine what is most important to you and how we can accomplish what you want.
Are you a Custom Home Builder?
-
Yes we are a design/build custom home building firm who are involved in a home's entire design-and-construction process, all the way from the earliest planning stages to the finishing touches, clean-up, and post-construction work.

One entity, one contract, one unified flow of work from initial concept through completion. This is the unique service that Horizon Construction Services provides.
